Activities at Handward Cottage

Handward Cottage is located at Anakiwa at the head of the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough Sounds, South Island, New Zealand and is close to the beach and Anakiwa end of the renowned Queen Charlotte Track.

Walks, Mountain Biking and Sea Kayaking

Take a short walk or mountain bike through the forest along the fabulous Queen Charlotte Track to Davies Bay, explore further to Mistletoe Bay and beyond or enjoy an alternative mountain bike or walk to the historic goldfields of the Cullen and Waikakaho Valleys. Sea kayak on the sheltered waters of the Grove Arm and explore the many picturesque bays. Mountain bikes and sea kayaks can be hired locally.

Boating and Fishing

Book a trip on one of the many scheduled cruises out of Picton on the Queen Charlotte Sound or Havelock on the Pelorus Sound.

Swimming or see Local Art Studios

For a more relaxing time enjoy a swim at the nearby beach, visit local craft studios or just sit out on the cottage deck and soak up the peaceful garden atmosphere over a good book.

Explore Marlborough

For those who want to venture further, drive the scenic Queen Charlotte Drive to the shops of Picton only 30 minutes away, to Havelock at the head of the Pelorus Sound only 20 minutes away or travel further to Blenheim and the celebrated restaurants and wineries of Marlborough, 45 minutes via Havelock or Picton.
